P15M illegal drugs seized in 2 day ops

Metrosundaily August 15, 2022

THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday reported that P15 million worth of illegal drugs in three separate anti-illegal drug operations from Aug. 13 to 14 were seized in operations.

PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said in an operation in Toledo City, Cebu, police arrested drug suspect Raffy Hermona in a buy-bust operation on Saturday that yielded P7,484,828 worth of of illegal drugs.

On Sunday, police coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to arrest suspects Ainnah Ali Salgan and Norhanna Salgan Canapia in a buy-bust operation in Sta. Cruz, Manila. About P3.4-million worth of shabu was seized from them.

Also on Sunday, suspect Ahzer Gregorio Villarosa was nabbed in an anti-illegal drug operation in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

Seized from his possession was some PHP4.3 million worth of illegal drugs.

All arrested suspects were detained pending the filing of a complaint for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“We really appreciate those accomplishments giving positive image sa PNP na nakikita natin nagtatrabaho (that we see working) jointly with the PDEA and the other government agencies,” he told reporters on Monday in press briefing held at Camp Crame.

Azurin said this is “a living testament” of the intensified approach towards curbing illegal drugs. “It is with high hopes that these will serve as deterrent against illegal drug operations,” he added.

The amount does not include PHP20.4 million worth of shabu confiscated from two drug suspects in a buy-bust operation in Quezon City on Monday.

In a report released on Monday afternoon, Brig. Gen. Narciso Domingo, chief of the Philippine National Police – Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG), said the suspects — Jerome Labita, 20, and John Lester Manipol, 24 — were arrested during the buy-bust operation at Varsity Lane West, Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City at about 12:40 p.m.

Recovered from the suspects were three kilos of suspected shabu wrapped in Chinese tea bags, buy-bust money, two cellphones, one SUV (Toyota Fortuner black) with plate number NQX-345 and assorted identification cards and documents.
