THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) announced the seizure of twelve smuggled vehicles valued at approximately P10.8 million at the Manila International Container Port (MICP).
The vehicles, ranging from a 1996 Acura Integra to a 2022 Honda S2000, were misdeclared as “assorted car accessories and supply” in shipments originating from the United States.
X-ray imaging confirmed the contents after the BOC received intelligence suggesting undeclared goods. Deputy Commissioner Juvymax Uy stated that the bureau had “solid information” indicating smuggling.
Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio emphasized the BOC’s commitment to pursuing legal action against those responsible and utilizing all available resources to combat smuggling activities. The BOC is tasked with collecting nearly P1.06 trillion in revenue this year.
