Not in Shambles: House leaders on expanding PH economy

admin June 27, 2025

THE country is in good hands under the leadership of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. and is on track to expanding the economy and achieving stability, contrary to the opinion of impeached Vice President Sara Duterte, two leaders of the House of Representatives said Thursday.

At the same time, Assistant Majority Leader and Manila Rep. Ernesto “Ernix” Dionisio and Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, who chairs the House Ad Hoc Committee on Marawi Rehabilitation and Victims Compensation, appealed to the Vice President to be objective in her criticism even she is anti-Marcos administration.

In a news conference, the two House leaders defended the President’s recent trips to the provinces and his photos appearing in media platforms, including his presence in the incineration of billions of pesos worth of illegal drugs seized by the authorities in recent days.

“Alam niyo po, marami na pong mga indicators na ang ating bansa ay nasa tamang track. Yung mga pictures naman na sinasabi…parte po ng public (at) transparency. Kaya nga meron tayong, sinasabi nating reporting to the public what has been accomplished,” Adiong said.

“Apart from also showing data, mas maganda nga po na ang ating mga lider ay pumupunta sa bawat lugar at pinapakita not only the accomplishment but the dedication to which these programs, particular programs or projects are needed and are important to boost the economy and to project that there is stability,” he said.

He said he was not surprised that the criticism came from VP Duterte.

But this should not distract the President from doing his job, he added.

“The way I see it, any distraction, any kind of negative opinions will not deter this country and this current administration to pursue what they believe are priority agenda for this country’s moving forward,” Adiong stressed.

Dionisio urged VP Duterte to be “mature enough” to be objective in her statements and to not just throw mud even if she has become a Marcos administration critic.

“In my humble opinion, dapat kapag may iki-criticize ka objective lang. It’s not a matter of kakampi mo o gusto mo, o ayaw mo ‘yung tao. Ang problema kasi kapag nagki-criticize ka, kapag kalaban ka, wala kang sasabihing mabuti e,” he said.

He said President Marcos Jr. may be finding himself in a damned if you do and damned if you don’t situation.

“Let’s be realistic, kapag ka walang nakitang picture, wala kang ginagawa, stubborn ka. Kapag may ginawa ka naman, ilabas mo sa press, photo-ops naman. Sa pula sa puti walang tama basta kalaban mo. Ganun talaga ang pulitika,” he said.

“But you know, we have to be mature enough as leaders of this nation to look beyond kung ayaw mo ba o kalaban mo sa pulitika o hindi ‘yung tao e. Pagki-criticize natin sa ibang leaders natin, it should be objective. Hindi yung para lang magtapon ka ng putik,” he stressed.

The Manila lawmaker pointed out that Filipinos are intelligent enough to know who among their leaders are working and who are not.

“I know, the Filipino people are very smart. We know who is doing their job, kung sino ang nagtatrabaho at hindi, who is sacrificing for our nation at kung sino ang hindi. And these name-callings won’t hold water. So I do believe that, I hope that we could be mature enough as leaders of this nation to stop the politicking, to just be objective in criticizing our kapwa-lingkod bayan to the betterment of our country,” he added.
