THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced it will file a formal human trafficking complaint against former congressman Mike Defensor in connection with operations at a KTV bar in Pasig City that was raided earlier over allegations of sexual exploitation involving dozens of women.
The case follows a thorough probe into the establishment, which authorities say was used to facilitate illegal activities.
NBI Director Melvin Matibag confirmed that the complaint will be submitted this Friday to the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office. According to the bureau, evidence collected during the investigation points to Defensor’s involvement in managing or overseeing the business.
Matibag stated that authorities believe the former lawmaker was fully aware of the alleged trafficking and exploitation taking place inside the premises. “It appears Mike Defensor was indeed involved in this matter,” he said.
Investigators also uncovered violations of the National Building Code, noting that the structure was modified in ways that concealed its illegal operations. These changes included hidden doors, secret stairways, and private rooms designed to facilitate and shield exploitative activities. The NBI claims Defensor knew of and consented to these alterations, which helped the establishment continue its operations undetected.
Defensor has strongly denied the accusations, describing them as politically motivated. Meanwhile, charges have already been filed against his wife, Julie Rose Defensor, and their son, Miguel Gabriel Defensor, who are linked to the same business. The NBI emphasized that the case is part of its mandate to combat human trafficking, and all evidence will be presented before the prosecutor to determine liability under the law.
