NBI ready to probe citizenship of Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Guo

JUSTICE Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Mico Clavano said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is ready to probe the citizenship of controversial local official Alice Guo, the mayor of Bamban, Tarlac.

Guo is allegedly linked to illegal activities involving Philippine Offishore Gaming Operators (POGO).

“Pwedeng pwede po yun. We are just paying the courtesy to the Senate who now leads the investigation. If need be and if requested by the committee, we can definitely assist,” Clavano said during a Zoom session with reporters when asked if the NBI could investigate her.

”But we need to receive a request from the Senate so that we can conduct the investigation. Ayaw lang po natin pangunahan ang Senado especially because there is an ongoing investigation on their end pero kung malaman po natin at meron po silang directive sa atin na mag conduct ng isang investigation, we will, definitely abide, ” Clavano continued.

Guo is being investigated by the Senate under the committee of Senator Risa Hontiveros.
