NATIONAL Bureau of Investigation Director Medardo de Lemos issued an apology on Friday for any offense caused, particularly to women, regarding the inclusion of a scantily-clad dancer during the recent mid-year command conference of the NBI.
During a hastily arranged press briefing, de Lemos assured the public that such incidents would not occur again.
“I sincerely apologize to anyone who was offended by the incident. We will ensure that it does not happen again. We have great respect for women,” de Lemos stated, emphasizing that a formal investigation is currently underway to identify those responsible.
Additionally, de Lemos refuted allegations that public funds were utilized to finance the performance of entertainers.
He asserted that the event’s expenses were covered through contributions from officials and agents.
It was recently reported that NBI officials convened at Manila’s Diamond Hotel for their Mid-Year Command Conference last week, which featured various forms of entertainment, including a performance by a dancer dressed in revealing attire.
A video showed the dancer wearing black bikini bottoms, a shimmering top, and knee-high boots, energetically moving and swaying her hips at the center of the dance floor.
As the performance progressed, she approached the guests seated at the tables, captivating their attention with rhythmic hip movements and hand gestures in sync with the music.
