Nadia Montenegro resigns as political affairs officer for Sen Robin Padilla

admin August 18, 2025

ACTRESS Nadia Montenegro has officially resigned from her position as the political affairs officer for Sen. Robin Padilla, as announced by his office on Monday.

Atty. Rudolf Philip Jurado, Padilla’s chief of staff, confirmed the acceptance of her resignation, stating, “Today, we received the written explanation and letter of resignation of Ms. Nadia Montenegro. Her resignation has been accepted.” This marks the end of Montenegro’s brief stint in the senator’s office, a role she took on with the hope of contributing to Padilla’s legislative agenda.

The resignation comes amidst swirling rumors and a recently surfaced incident report linking a “Nadia Montenegro” to an alleged marijuana incident within the Senate building.

The report, dated August 13, detailed how a Senate security personnel was alerted to an unusual odor emanating from the ladies’ restroom near the Senators’ extension offices. While the report doesn’t explicitly confirm the involvement of the actress, the timing of her resignation has fueled speculation and drawn considerable media attention.

While the reasons behind Montenegro’s departure remain somewhat unclear, the controversy surrounding the alleged marijuana incident has undoubtedly cast a shadow over her role and potentially influenced her decision to step down.

The incident and subsequent resignation highlight the intense scrutiny public figures face, especially when transitioning into political roles. It remains to be seen how this development will impact Sen. Padilla’s office and their ongoing legislative efforts.
