admin May 5, 2024

THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced that more than 2.5 million new voters were already registered for the 2025 national and local elections, nearing the three million target set by the poll body.

Comelec chairman George Garcia said that a total of 2,548,324 applications were processed nationwide, only less than three months since the voter registration began.

Calabarzon had the most number of applicants at 466,768. The National Capital Region came next with 378,553, and then Central Luzon with 295,635.

The Cordillera Administrative Region, on the other hand, still had the least number of applications processed of all regions at 32,552.

The Comelec’s main office had 4,839 applicants.

Of the total new registrants, 1,317,626 were female, and 1,230,698 were male.

The voter registration period for the May 2025 midterm polls started on February 12 and will end on September 30, 2024.

Applicants may register from Monday to Saturday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at any Comelec office nationwide.

The poll body’s Register Anywhere Program is also open for those who wish to register to vote in designated sites like malls and schools.
