CONGRESSMEN belonging to the newly-formed Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas on Thursday said they expect more political groups to join the new administration alliance led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and his principally Congress ally, Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez.

Deputy Majority Leader and Isabela Rep. Faustino Dy V and Assistant Majority Leader and Manila Rep. Ernesto Dionisio Jr. said they are looking forward to having more Alyansa members from other political parties.

The two congressmen are affiliated with Lakas-CMD, which is headed by Speaker Romualdez and which forged the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas with President Marcos’ Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) on Wednesday.

“Definitely one thing po is certain, na masaya po kami sa LAKAS and members of the PFP yesterday sa naging alyansa o bagong alyansa ng miyembro, members of LAKAS and also the members of PFP. Napakataas po ng morale ng mga members at syempre we expect other parties to join this alliance also in the next few months maybe,” Dy said during the regular press conference of House members.

He said even those who have left the administration coalition are welcome to join the newly minted alliance.

“I can imagine that the President’s statements are very clear, that he still want unity, he is still wants everyone to be unified under the current administration because pare-pareho naman po ng layunin ng bawat partido, na itulak ang progreso, ipagpatuloy ang progreso ng ating bansa. So, I can imagine that the other political parties will still be welcome if they decide to coalesce or align with this new alliance,” he said.

Dionisio said Marcos’ unity message during Wednesday’s forging of the Lakas-PFP alliance resonates with coalition members.

“And you know, we are very fortunate to have a President who really adheres to the word unity. Talagang niyayakap niya ang lahat. So, as long as you are joining the vision of our President for progress, there is no reason para hindi ka sumama,” he said.

To maintain unity in the coalition in the days ahead, Dy and Dionisio said they expect the alliance leadership to resolve divisive issues, including those they would confront in the fielding of common candidates in the May 2025 elections and in future electoral exercises.

“That’s something that was not discussed yet and it’s something I’m sure the leaders of LAKAS and also PFP will discuss in the next meetings to come,” Dy said.

“I think that the leadership of both parties will resolve any possible local issues or conflict, being ang pagsasama involves unity. So, I think that’s the message and hopefully, everything will turn out best,” Dionisio said.

For his part, Deputy Majority Leader and Tingog Party-list Rep. Jude Acidre said some members of their group are also members of Lakas.

“Well, so far alam mo namang malapit talaga ang Tingog at ang Lakas, at pinapayagan naman ho ng constitution ng Tingog na pwedeng maging kaanib ng isang national political party ang isang miyembro ng Tingog party-list. Ang hindi lang ho pwede yung mga congressman na incumbent,” Acidere said.
