PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has ordered a grace period on the ban on select electric vehicles on national roads, during which violators will not be given tickets and fines.

In a statement issued Thursday, Marcos said he ordered the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and local government units in Metro Manila to provide  leeway for e-bikes, e-trikes, and other affected vehicles that continue to ply national roads of Metro Manila.

He did not provide a timeline for the grace period.

The ban on tricycles, puscharts, pedicabs, kuligligs, e-bikes, e-trikes, and light e-vehicles (EVs) on some 20 national roads in Metro Manila took effect on Monday, April 15, 2024.
