Marcos Jr. unveils administration’s 2025 midterm election senatorial slate

Metrosundaily September 26, 2024

PRESIDENT Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Thursday announced the administration’s senatorial slate for the 2025 midterm elections during the Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas Convention at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City.

The slate includes:

Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos

Makati City Mayor Abby Binay

Senator Pia Cayetano

Senator Lito Lapid

Senator Francis Tolentino

Senator Imee Marcos

Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.

Former Senator Manny Pacquiao

Former Senator Panfilo Lacson

Former Senator Vicente Sotto III

Deputy Speaker Camille Villar

Former Social Welfare and Development Secretary Erwin Tulfo

All personalities on the slate, except for Senator Imee Marcos, were present at the event.

The Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas Convention, where President Marcos Jr. announced his administration’s senatorial slate for the 2025 midterm elections, was actually a gathering that took place earlier in the year, on June 29, 2024.

This convention was not the event where the senatorial slate was announced, but rather a ceremony where the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) and the National Unity Party (NUP) formalized their alliance under the banner of “Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas.”

Overall, the “Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas” alliance has the potential to significantly impact the 2025 midterm elections. It remains to be seen how effectively the coalition can manage internal differences, engage voters, and translate their combined strength into electoral success.
