M/V Trisha Kerstin 3: Death toll climbs to 39 as more bodies found

THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported the recovery of three additional cadavers today, February 1, 2026, in connection with the ongoing search and rescue (SAR) operations for the sunken M/V Trisha Kerstin 3.

The joint SAR team, composed of government agencies, local government units, and fisherfolk volunteers, retrieved two bodies from Baluk-Baluk Island and one cadaver from Lantawan Island. The recovered bodies will be transported to Zamboanga City for identification and proper disposition.

With these latest recoveries, the total number of fatalities has risen to 39, while the survivor count remains at 316. The PCG and its partners continue their efforts to locate any remaining missing individuals.
