FOREIGN Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. said on Friday that he is flying to Poland to personally supervise the evacuation of Filipinos from Ukraine amid the full-scale invasion of Russia.
Joining Locsin to a flight going to the Ukrainian border are DFA Assistant Secretary Jaime Victor Ledda and George Benedict Pineda, Protocol Officer to the Secretary of Foreign Affairs on Friday afternoon, 25 February.
“I’m going with Asec. Jet Ledda and George Pineda, my protocol, to personally see to the safety of my people at the Ukrainian border. Deeply grateful to Poland. We’ll never forget this,” Locsin said on Twitter.
“My two-hour flight is at 2 pm; I’ll be on the road to my people tomorrow early morning—seven-hour drive,” he said in a separate tweet. “(President) Duterte leaves no one behind. It is what he is.”
