CAVITE Governor Jonvic Remulla has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Malacañang confirmed on Tuesday.
Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cesar Chavez told reporters in a Viber message on Tuesday that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had appointed Remulla and that the governor is set to take his oath before the chief executive on Tuesday morning.
On Monday evening, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla told reporters that his brother will replace Benjamin Abalos Jr., who resigned as DILG chief after filing his certificate of candidacy for senator. Abalos Jr. served as DILG secretary since July 2022, overseeing the department’s efforts to implement various programs and initiatives.
