KAPATID, a support organization dedicated to assisting families and friends of political prisoners, will ask the Supreme Court for the swift humanitarian release of Gerardo Dela Peña, the oldest political prisoner in the country at 84 years old.
On Tuesday at 10:30 am, the group was with Reina Mae Nasino and families of political prisoners, aiming to bring attention to their cause.
Nasino’s case gained national and international outrage after her infant daughter, Baby River, tragically passed away following their separation.
Additionally, the organization will submit a formal letter requesting a dialogue with Chief Justice Gesmundo and Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen.
The objective of this dialogue is to initiate stakeholder consultations regarding the Writ of Kalayaan and other pressing concerns faced by political prisoners.
