House panel subpoenas SEC chief for Duterte-linked corporate records

admin April 8, 2026

THE House Committee on Justice has issued a subpoena directing Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairperson Atty. Francis Edralin Lim is to appear before the panel and submit corporate records related to entities linked to Vice President Sara Duterte and her spouse, Manases Carpio.

The subpoena, issued in connection with the impeachment complaints against Duterte, orders Lim to attend the committee hearing on April 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the House of Representatives.

“You are hereby directed to appear before the Committee on Justice on April 14, 2026, 10:00 A.M., at the 2nd Floor of the People Center, House of Representatives, and to submit the following documents,” the order read.

The committee is requiring the submission of “certified true copies of the General Information Sheet and Audited Financial Statements” of several companies allegedly affiliated with Duterte and Carpio.

Among the entities listed were Metro City Chow Foods Corp., Gencorp Industries Inc., Carpio Lawyers, 888 Bistro, and CALE88 Foods Corp., as well as Madayaw Fisheries Corp., Mati City Ice Plant and Cold Storage Inc., Amianan Shores Inc., Geometry Security and Investigation Agency Inc., and Cabletow 88 Shipping and Marine Services Inc.

The subpoena said that the documents are needed “to find out and confirm the General Information Sheets and Annual Financial Statements of the companies connected to Vice President Sara Zimmerman Duterte and her husband, Manases Carpio, and to verify that these corporate records are real and correct, as well as to provide testimony about them.”

The subpoena was issued under the authority of the House Committee on Justice and signed in Quezon City on March 31, 2026 by chairperson Gerville “Jinky Bitrics” Luistro of Batangas and Speaker Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III and Secretary General Atty. Cheloy L. Velicaria-Garafil.

The development marks a key step in the committee’s evidence-gathering process as it moves toward determining whether sufficient grounds exist to elevate the impeachment case to the Senate for trial.
