A GROUP of lawmakers in the House of Representatives has declared that the public is now aware of corruption and abuse, citing a Pulse Asia survey that found 61% of Filipinos support the investigation by the Quad Committee.
The Quad Comm, composed of the committees on dangerous drugs, public order and safety, human rights, and public accounts, has been investigating illegal drugs, extrajudicial killings (EJKs), and Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs). Individuals linked to former President Rodrigo Duterte have been implicated in POGO operations, illegal drugs, and the killings of drug suspects, which have tragically included innocent civilians and children.
The Pulse Asia survey, conducted from November 26 to December 3, 2024, revealed that 61% of respondents favored the investigation, a result welcomed by the “Young Guns” group in Congress.
“The survey results clearly show that the public is no longer blind to corruption. They demand truth and justice, and we in Congress will not stop until we achieve this,” the group stated.
The Quad Comm has held 13 hearings and has concluded its investigation into POGO operations, but continues to investigate illegal drugs and EJKs.
“This fight is for the nation. We will not stop until the whole truth is revealed and those behind corruption, illegal drugs, and these abuses are held accountable. The support of the people is our inspiration in every step we take,” the group added.
Congress resumed its work tomorrow after the Christmas break, and the Quad Comm will continue its investigation into illegal drugs and EJKs.
