THE House of Representatives formally begins its scrutiny of the proposed ₱7.2-trillion 2027 National Expenditure Program with a briefing by the Development Budget Coordination Committee (DBCC).
The briefing signals the start of congressional budget deliberations, where lawmakers will review how proposed allocations will be spent and whether these will directly benefit Filipinos.
Joining House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III at the briefing were House Committee on Appropriations Chairperson Rep. Mikaela Angela Suansing, Senior Deputy Speaker Ferdinand Hernandez, Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” Marcos, and other House leaders.
In the NEP turnover last week, Speaker Dy said the House will closely examine agency proposals, focusing not only on funding levels but also on how programs will be implemented and what results they are expected to deliver for the public.
“Sa dulo, iisa ang ating sukatan: isang budget na tunay na para sa tao at nararamdaman ng tao.”
