SENATE Deputy Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros has warned dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo that she could face additional charges if she files her candidacy for the 2025 elections.
Hontiveros stated that Guo Hua Ping would be committing material misrepresentation by falsely declaring herself a Filipino citizen on her certificate of candidacy (COC). “The COC is a crucial document executed under oath. If Guo Hua Ping persists in her lies, she will face an additional charge of perjury on top of the existing charges against her,” Hontiveros emphasized.
Hontiveros also criticized Guo’s intention to run again, saying, “It seems Alice Guo’s deception continues, even while she is behind bars.”
Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, who joined Hontiveros in investigating Guo’s alleged ties to illegal POGOs, described the dismissed mayor’s plan to run for public office as “another brazen attempt to undermine the country’s laws.”
He urged the Comelec to immediately disqualify Guo from seeking public office.
