Hold plunderers accountable in Las Piñas — Rep. Santos

admin September 22, 2025

RALLYISTS yesterday, in their peaceful protest, showed their burning anger against those in power who continue to escape accountability for plunder, corruption, and political dynasty, this was the observation of Las Piñas Rep. Mark Anthony Santos.

According to Santos, “These crimes should place them behind bars, not on the throne of leadership. Our nation will never prosper as long as corruption and political dynasties dominate—we must put an end to this rotten system.”

He further emphasized that in the past decade, corruption in Las Piñas has worsened, including the disappearance of ₱450 million in infrastructure funds of the Department of Public Works and Highways this year.

Santos added that only about four to five contractors have repeatedly bagged multimillion-peso government infrastructure contracts in the city over the last ten years—contractors allegedly related to a powerful political family.

He also questioned how four construction firms owned by contractor Sarah Discaya were able to secure a total of 13 infrastructure projects in Las Piñas worth around ₱452 million.

Because of this, Santos urged his constituents to cooperate and provide vital information to the Independent Commission on Infrastructure (ICI) so that the culprits could immediately be held accountable and sent to jail.

Santos said that the monopolization of government infrastructure projects by a handful of construction firms through the influence of a powerful politician constitutes a form of economic sabotage.

“Every resident of Las Piñas deserves immediate justice, and the money stolen by politicians over the past three decades must be returned to the people. The nation should no longer tolerate this kind of abuse—it is time to hold the plunderers accountable,” Santos added.
