IN anticipation of continued heavy rainfall brought by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine, Malacañang announced on Wednesday night the suspension of work in government offices and classes at all levels in Luzon for October 24, 2024.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin issued the directive, leaving the decision to suspend work for private companies and offices to their respective heads.
“Agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness/response to disasters and calamities, and/or the performance of other vital services are hereby directed to continue their operations and render the necessary services,” Bersamin stated.
He added that “the localized cancellation or suspension of classes and/or work in government offices in other areas may be implemented by their respective Local Chief Executives, pursuant to relevant laws, rules and regulations.”
The suspension of work and classes aims to ensure the safety of the public and government employees amidst the anticipated heavy rainfall. The government remains vigilant in monitoring the situation and providing necessary support to affected areas.
