THE Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced a holiday gratuity increase for government contract of service (COS) and job order (JO) workers. The workers will receive ₱7,000 this month, a boost from the previous ₱5,000 rate. The last increase occurred in 2021, raising the gratuity from ₱3,000.
DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman attributed the increase to President Bongbong Marcos’ administration. The gratuity will be pro-rated for those with less than four months of satisfactory service as of December 15. Workers with three to four months will receive up to ₱6,000; two to three months, up to ₱5,000; and less than two months, up to ₱4,000.
Secretary Pangandaman emphasized the government’s appreciation for COS and JO workers’ contributions, stating their service is invaluable and that the increased gratuity ensures they are not left without compensation during the Christmas and New Year holidays.
This announcement follows an earlier presidential announcement of an increase in the annual Service Recognition Incentive (SRI) from ₱18,000 to ₱20,000 for government employees.
