Former Immigration officer lambasted for escorting individuals aboard private jet at NAIA

admin March 21, 2023

AN Immigration officer got an earful from Senator Francis Tolentino over his misdeeds in NAIA.

Immigration officer Jeff Pinpin got scolded during a Senate hearing after he admitted to reporting to the NAIA and escorting individuals aboard a private jet when he wasn’t even supposed to be at work that day.

Pinpin reportedly ushered alleged human trafficking victims in NAIA on February 13, four days after he was ordered relieved from his post.

“The mere fact that you were relieved February 9 has nothing to do with your assertion of having an ongoing function which is violative of Article 177 of the Revised Penal Code. Alam mo tawag doon? Usurpation of Public Functions,” Tolentino said during the hearing.

Pinpin was even supposed to be off duty that day regardless of a relief order.

“So inamin mo na relieved ka na, you now give discretion to the appointing designating authority kung sino yung kapalit mo, di ba?,” the senator said when Pinpin tried to argue that he was not yet “officially” relieved from his duty that day without a written notice.

“Relieved na ho kayo, anong ginagawa mo dito?,” the senator stressed.
