Fake memo allegedly ordering ops boost, Romualdez removal dismissed

admin April 30, 2025

MALACANANG has dismissed as fake news a purported memorandum that allegedly ordered intensified operations to boost the Marcos administration’s ratings and recommended the removal of House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.

The supposed memorandum, bearing the signature of Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, has been circulating online, prompting a swift response from the Palace. Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro strongly warned the public against the misinformation during a Wednesday briefing.

Castro categorically stated that the document is entirely fabricated, urging the public to disregard it. She emphasized the importance of verifying information before sharing it, particularly online, given the prevalence of fake news.

Castro’s statement underscored the administration’s commitment to transparency and its efforts to combat the spread of disinformation. The Palace’s decisive action in debunking the false memorandum highlights the potential for such fabricated documents to undermine public trust and sow discord.

The swift denial from Malacañang aims to prevent the false memorandum from gaining traction and influencing public perception.

The Palace’s clear and concise message serves as a warning against the dangers of unverified information and emphasizes the importance of critical thinking in the digital age. The incident underscores the ongoing challenge of combating the spread of misinformation and the need for responsible information sharing among citizens.
