End corruption, elite rule: Build gov’t of the masses – Socialista PH

admin November 6, 2025

AROUND 300 militant workers led by the (SOCiALiSTA) hold a protest action this morning (Thursday) in Mendiola street, Manila to demand the dismantling of the corrupt and elitist political system and the establishment of a genuine people’s government.

As part of the demonstration, worker representatives had symbolically burn and destroy a political structure (made of cardboard) representing corruption—echoing the people’s frustration over endless Senate, Congress, and ICI investigations that yield no real accountability.

According to Ding Villasin, SOCiALiSTA spokesperson, the Filipino people continue to suffer the effects of massive corruption, worsened by climate change and collapsing infrastructure. “Corruption destroys not just bridges and flood barriers—it destroys lives and the nation’s dignity. The same ruling elites profit from poverty, disaster, and public despair,” Villasin said. He added that billions of pesos are lost yearly through insertions and kickbacks between lawmakers and private contractors, while the poor bear the brunt of floods, displacement, and economic collapse.

SOCiALiSTA reiterated its call for the working class—the majority whose only wealth is their labor force—to lead the fight to end elite rule. “Our vow is to awaken, organize, and mobilize the Filipino masses until they themselves decide to dismantle the corrupt government and build a Government of the Masses—a system that genuinely serves the people,” Villasin declared.

SOCiALiSTA underscores that this call for a People’s Government is a peaceful and democratic movement—grounded in awareness, participation, and the people’s collective will.
