THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has made the decision to temporarily suspend the requirement for its employees to wear office uniforms.
This move comes in response to reports of increased harassment and public scrutiny directed at DPWH personnel, stemming from the ongoing investigation into alleged anomalous flood-control projects. The suspension aims to protect employees from potential confrontations and ensure their safety while the investigation proceeds.
While the DPWH has not released specific details regarding the nature of the harassment, it is likely that employees have faced verbal abuse, intimidation, or other forms of public backlash due to the controversy surrounding the flood-control projects.
The decision to suspend the uniform requirement allows employees to blend in with the general public, potentially reducing their visibility and vulnerability to harassment.
It remains unclear how long the suspension will remain in effect, as the DPWH likely intends to reinstate the uniform policy once the investigation has concluded and public tensions have eased.
