THE Department of Justice (DOJ) has assured the public that it is fully prepared to handle any individual arrested for violating laws during the ongoing protests organized by the Iglesia ni Cristo, according to Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida.
He emphasized that the department stands ready to perform its duties whenever violations are committed, as part of its mandate to prosecute offenses and uphold the rule of law.
Vida explained that this readiness follows the same procedure used in previous mass actions, where the DOJ assigns prosecutors to ensure the swift and proper filing of complaints against those who break regulations. This arrangement is designed to speed up legal processes and ensure that due process is observed while maintaining order during public assemblies.
On June 30, members of the Iglesia ni Cristo staged simultaneous rallies to call for transparency, accountability, justice, and peace in the country. The gatherings were held not only at the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila but also along major thoroughfares including the area near the EDSA Shrine. Authorities continue to monitor all sites to ensure the activities remain peaceful and within the bounds of the law.
