THE Health department on Tuesday logged 1,409 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the lowest single-day number of infections in more than eight months.

In its daily Covid-19 bulletin, the agency said this brought the total number of confirmed infections in the country to 2,806,694.

The active case tally, meanwhile, further dipped to 30,544 — lower than Monday’s 32,077.

Tuesday’s new cases are lower than the 1,557 infections recorded on February 24 this year.

Another 2,941 new recoveries were also recorded, pushing the total tally to 2,731,583.

Meanwhile, the death toll rose to 44,567 with 46 new deaths.

The new infections pushed the active cases to 30,544 with 60.7 percent listed as mild, 8 percent as asymptomatic, 4.2 percent as critical, 10 percent as severe, and 17.05 percent as moderate.

According to DOH data on Nov. 7, about 5.4 percent of 30,716 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.

“About nine duplicates were removed from the total case count, and of these, eight are recoveries. Moreover, 46 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it added.

All laboratories were operational on Nov. 7 while 14 laboratories were not able to submit their data to the Covid-19 Document Repository System.

The DOH noted the 14 non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 1.6 percent of samples tested, and 2 percent of positive individuals based on data in the last 14 days.

To date, 42 percent of 3,900 intensive care unit beds, 32 percent of 20,700 isolation beds, 25 percent of 14,000 ward beds, and 24 percent of 3,200 ventilators are utilized by patients with Covid-19 nationwide.

Meanwhile, 37 percent of 1,300 intensive care unit beds, 27 percent of 4,900 isolation beds, 25 percent of 4,000 ward beds, and 23 percent of 1,000 ventilators dedicated to patients with Covid-19 are in use in Metro Manila.
