Dizon dismisses former Bulacan engineer over ghost projects

admin September 4, 2025

FORMER Bulacan First District Engineer Henry Alcantara has been dismissed from service, according to a recent announcement by the new DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon on Thursday.

Alcantara’s dismissal stems from his involvement in approving several flood control projects within his district, some of which have been identified as “ghost projects,” meaning they were never actually completed despite being certified as such.

Alcantara himself admitted to certifying the completion of these nonexistent projects, stating that he relied on the certificates provided by his team.

This admission highlights a serious breach of protocol and a failure in oversight, leading to the misappropriation of public funds and the potential compromise of vital infrastructure projects designed to protect communities from flooding.

Secretary Dizon’s swift action in dismissing Alcantara underscores the new administration’s commitment to accountability and transparency within the DPWH.

This move sends a clear message that corruption and negligence will not be tolerated, and that those entrusted with public funds will be held responsible for their actions.

The dismissal of Alcantara is just one step in a broader effort to reform the DPWH and ensure that infrastructure projects are completed efficiently, effectively, and with the utmost integrity.
