DICT: Gobyerno hindi magbabayad ng $300k ransom sa PhilHealth hackers

NANINDIGAN ang Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) na hindi magbabayad ang gobyerno ng hinihinging $300,000 o nasa P17 milyon ransom sa hackers ng PhilHealth.

Sinabi ni DICT Usec. Jeffrey Dy na noong Setyembre 22 gamit ang Medusa ransomware ay inatake ng mga hacker ang libo-libong internal files ng PhilHealth.

Kabilang umano sa apektado ang compromised data kabilang ang confidential memos at employee information tulad ng passwords, pictures, at iba pang personal data na nakatago sa apektadong devices.

Dahil dito, isinara ng ahensiya ang system tulad ng website at online operation.

Binigyan ng palugit ng mga hacker ang gobyerno ng hanggang Oktubre 2 para magbayad ng ransom.

Dahil sa hindi magbibigay ng ransom ang gobyerno, sinabi ng DICT na asahan na ang unti-unting paglabas ng imporasyon na naibigay sa PhilHealth.

Ito ay upang takutin ang publiko at mapilitan ang gobyerno na magbayad ng ransom.

Hindi pa kilala ang mga hackers ngunit nagtatrabaho na ang mga awtoridad at kumausap na ng computer emergency response teams ng iba’t ibang sangay ng gobyerno kabilang ang ilang international organizations na nabiktima ng katulad na kriminal.
