MAGHIHIGPIT na ang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) sa pag-isyu ng tourist visas sa Chinese nationals. Ito ay matapos maging talamak ang pagkakaroon ng visa ng mga Chinese na ginagamit sa kriminalidad at ilegalidad na may kinalaman sa Philippine offshore gaming operator o POGO firms.
Sinabi ni DFA Undersecretary for civilian security and consular affairs Jesus Domingo na magkakaroon ng ng karagdagang requirement ang Chinese na gustong makakuha ng visa sa bansa.
Kabilang dito ang social security documents na isasamang dokumento para magkaroon ng visa ang aplikante.
Kailangan ding magbigay ng iba pang requirement tulad ng government IDs, proof of financial capacity, employment certificate at bank statements.
“There are a lot of fraudulently acquired visas,” sabi ni Domingo.
Ayon pa kay Domingo, nakatatangap ang Philippine consular officers sa China ng mga pekeng dokumento at kawalan ng sapat na kakayahang pinansiyal bilang turista.
Tinatangka pa umanong suhulan ng mga ito sa Philippine consular staff.
“We are urging our (diplomatic) posts to have renewed tourism drive but we are looking at more quality tourists and not POGO,” sabi nito.
“Our reforms are aimed largely at better security. There will be less instance of unsavory people coming in to commit heinous crimes against fellow Chinese,” ayon pa kay Domingo.
