USAID and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) will deploy an additional 300 vehicles in coordination with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) to transport food and other supplies to typhoon-hit communities.

THE National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported death toll due to Typhoon Odette, which hit the country in December 2021, has climbed to 409 from 406.

In its latest report, the NDRRMC added that 1,384 people were reported injured and 65 reported were still missing after the onslaught of the typhoon.

According to the council, only 96 fatalities have been confirmed so far.

A total of 8,709,417 people or 2,453,075 families were affected by the typhoon in 9,068 barangays.

At least 220,096 were displaced from their homes and some of them are in 1,120 evacuation centers.

The affected regions were Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Soccsksargen, Caraga, and Bangsamoro.

At least 1,395,097 houses were damaged—1,031,063 partially and 364,034 totally. A total of P17,300,477,117 worth of damage in infrastructure and P15,995,375,355 in agriculture were also reported.

Water supply has been restored in only seven of the 27 cities and municipalities that reported water supply interruption.

Meanwhile, 124 areas are still experiencing communication line issues, the NDRRMC said.
