FORMER Senator Leila de Lima said former President Rodrigo Duterte should be made to answer for his sins after winning the last drug case.
“Ito po ang message ko sa dating pangulo, kay ginoong Duterte: Kayo ngayon ang mananagot sa mga kasalanan niyo sa taong bayan (This is my message to the former president, Mr. Duterte: You will now be made to answer for your sins against the people),” De Lima said.
De Lima, who had said that the drug charges filed against her under Duterte’s watch were spurious, said she was just one of his victims.
Thousands more were killed in his “bloody and bogus war on drugs,” she said.
There are also those languishing in jail because of the abuse of the law, she said.
She has been helping and will continue to help the International Criminal Court in its investigation of Duterte and his war on drugs to bring justice for victims, she said.
As for filing cases against her oppressors, De Lima said her lawyers have been looking into this and there are other cases they have asked them to study.
They would announce their moves in due time, she added.
De Lima called on her supporters to remain and said that after her nearly seven years in detention, she is more prepared now to continue the fight.
“Let’s pray together, let’s work together, let’s fight and win together. Tuloy ang laban,” she said.
She subsequently clarified that what she meant was that she would continue the fight against injustice and oppression, and said she has not made any decision about running for office.
She also said she might return to law practice in a limited capacity, and would continue to help the Liberal Party, where she is the spokesperson.
