A BUREAU of Customs (BOC) official reported that they served a search warrant against Sarah Discaya, a top government contractor, after she admitted to owning 28 luxury cars and nine companies profiting from construction projects.
However, despite a warrant covering twelve luxury vehicles, only two were found at her Pasig residence.
BOC Chief of Staff Jek Casipit stated that they attempted to serve the warrant on Monday night but were initially denied entry.
After gaining access to Discaya’s residence on Tuesday morning, they discovered only a Land Cruiser and a Maserati. “We found two units right now. The Land Cruiser and Maserati. We couldn’t find the others. We can’t see them here,” Casipit said.
The BOC stated that it remains committed to combatting smuggling and ensuring the proper collection of duties and taxes.
The agency is also monitoring and supporting the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee’s investigation into alleged anomalous flood control projects, which raised questions about the Discaya family’s ownership of numerous luxury vehicles.
The limited number of vehicles found during the search raises questions about the whereabouts of the remaining cars covered by the warrant.
