Crising’s Aftermath: Thousands affected, 3 missing amid flooding

admin July 19, 2025

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) evacuated 151 residents affected by flooding due to typhoon Crising in Ilog, Negros Occidental..

SEVERE Tropical Storm Crising and the southwest monsoon have left a trail of destruction across the Philippines, resulting in widespread flooding and rough seas.

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported that three individuals remain missing—two in Antique and one in Palawan—while over 215,000 people in 495 barangays, primarily in the Negros Island Region and Panay, have been affected.

The OCD is on red alert, with 3 million family food packs prepared for distribution and standby funds allocated in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

A significant number of personnel—approximately 18,000 from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Philippine Coast Guard—are on standby for rescue operations.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) also reported ₱11.5 million in damage to flood control infrastructure in the Ilocos Region.

Despite Crising’s exit from the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warns of continued heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of further flooding and landslides in parts of Luzon and the Visayas.

Authorities are urging residents in vulnerable areas to remain vigilant and heed evacuation orders if necessary. The ongoing assessment of damage and the provision of relief efforts remain crucial priorities as the country grapples with the storm’s aftermath.
