SENATE President Juan Miguel Zubiri said over the weekend that Congress is set to ratify the proposed P5.768-trillion Philippine budget for 2024 on Monday, December 11, 2023.
Zubiri said the bicameral panel will meet in Makati City to finalize the national budget, which the Senate approved on third and final reading on November 28.
“We’re ratifying the budget tomorrow… Confirmed,” Zubiri said in a Viber message to reporters.
During the bicameral conference, lawmakers from the Senate and House of Representatives will reconcile the disagreeing provisions from their respective versions. Once reconciled, the final version will be ratified and sent to Malacañang for the review and approval of the President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
The P5.768-trillion proposed budget for 2024 was officially submitted by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to Congress in August, that reflected a 9.5 percent increase from the 2023 appropriations.
