Comelec: Over 18k elective positions open for 2025 elections

CANDIDATES nationwide will vie for over 18,000 elective positions in the 2025 National and Local Elections, according to data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).


A total of 18,280 positions covering 14 positions in 254 legislative districts will be contested.
In the national race, 12 senatorial seats, 63 seats for party-list representatives, and 254 seats for congressional district representatives will be up for grabs.


For local elections, the number of positions to be filled are as follows:
Governor — 82
Vice Governor — 82
Member, Provincial Board — 800
City Mayor — 149
City Vice Mayor — 149
Member, City Council — 1,690
Municipal Mayor — 1,493
Municipal Vice Mayor — 1,493
Member, Municipal Council — 11,948
BARMM Members of the Parliament — 25
BARMM Party Representatives — 40
The 254 legislative districts are as follows:
National Capital Region — 33
Cordillera Administrative Region — 7
Region I — 12
Region II — 12
Region III — 24
Region IV-A — 31
Region IV-B — 8
Region V — 16
Region VI — 12
Negros Island Region — 11
Region VII — 14
Region VIII — 13
Region IX — 11
Region X — 14
Region XI — 11
Region XII — 10
Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao — 6
CARAGA — 9
As of September 17, a total of 6,250,050 new registered voters were recorded by Comelec, with 3,214,403 being female and 3,035,647 being male.
CALABARZON had the highest number of new voters with 1,041,179.


This was followed by the National Capital Region with 824,239; Central Luzon with 705,530; Davao Region with 356,854; and Central Visayas with 331,033.

The Comelec main office registered 9,201 new voters.

The voter registration period for the May 2025 midterm polls began on February 12 and will end on September 30, 2024.

Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia stated that the September 30 deadline for voter registration will not be extended.
