THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) has disqualified Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro from running for Congress in the 2025 midterm elections.
A 25-page resolution from the Comelec First Division granted Senator Aquilino Pimentel III’s petition, citing material misrepresentation in Teodoro’s certificate of candidacy (COC).
The Comelec found that Teodoro’s claim of residency in the first district of Marikina was false, based on evidence presented by Pimentel and witnesses demonstrating Teodoro had abandoned his original domicile.
Teodoro, the National Unity Party’s candidate, had asserted he transferred his residence from the city’s second district. The petition alleged Teodoro misrepresented himself as a registered voter in District 1 before his registration was officially approved.
