THE government has announced the suspension of classes at all levels and work in government offices across Luzon on Friday, October 25, due to the inclement weather brought by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
The announcement was made by the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) on Thursday evening, citing the raising of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Nos. 1, 2, and 3 in most areas of Luzon, as well as persistent heavy rainfall and strong winds. The OES emphasized that the suspension aims to further aid in the government’s rescue, relief, and recovery efforts.
However, agencies involved in the delivery of essential services, including health, disaster response, and other vital operations, have been instructed to continue their work and provide necessary services.
Local chief executives have the authority to implement localized cancellations or suspensions of classes or work in government offices within their respective areas, based on relevant laws and regulations.
Typhoon Kristine, the 11th storm to enter the Philippines this year, is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday.
