PHILIPPINE National Police chief, General Rommel Francisco Marbil
PHILIPPINE National Police chief, General Rommel Francisco Marbil said that Central Luzon’s top cop is under investigation for alleged negligence in connection with illegal Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) raided by authorities in Bamban, Tarlac and Porac, Pampanga.
In a press briefing, Marbil said “We are investigating din ‘yung regional director… sa mga reports na hindi po inaaksiyunan mabuti.”
He added it was important that regional police directors faced accountability over unchecked criminal activities within their jurisdictions.
In an earlier statement, Marbil warned that police officers would be meted out disciplinary actions if found to be involved in the operations of illegal POGOs.
“This policy serves as a reminder: engage in illegal activities, and you will be dealt with accordingly,” he said.
During the press briefing, Marbil said concerned police officials had already been relieved from their posts due to suspected lack of action.
“We have our integrity monitoring group na nagchecheck sa mga tao natin. I guess ang hinahabol natin ay ang inefficiency ng mga opisyal natin,” the PNP chief said.
