DEPUTY Minority Leader Risa Hontiveros insisted that the country already has numerous pieces of legislation that have liberalized the economy, and the 1987 Constitution is not the reason why foreign investors find the country unappealing.
During the hearing of the Subcommittee on Resolution of Both Houses No. 6 (RBH6) on Monday, February 5, 2024, Hontiveros pointed out that corruption, red tape, bureaucratic intermediaries, and the high cost of electricity are the main reasons why local and foreign investors are being repelled.
“Let us not allow our Constitution, the spirit of our country, to be collateral damage. We, the Filipino people, will determine our destiny, not the ambition of the few,” Hontiveros said. (Joseph Vidal/Senate Social Media Unit)
