CASES of influenza-like illnesses (ILI) in the country decreased by 19 percent and the downward trend are expected to continue over the next month, according to the Department of Health (DoH).
As of Friday, a total of 16,155 ILI cases were reported from Jan. 1 to Feb. 3, 2024, which is 19 percent lower compared to 19,935 ILI cases during the same period in 2023.
Moreover, a 10 percent decrease in ILI cases was also observed from Dec. 24 to Jan. 6, 2023 at 8,199 cases compared to the 7,372 recorded from January 7-20.
The DoH said this number has gone down further to 4,487 cases from January 21 to February 3. It added that the numbers may change because of late consultations and reports.
Meanwhile, nine deaths have been reported from January 1 to February 3, resulting in a case fatality rate of 0.06 percent for the period.
