DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista.
TRANSPORTATION Secretary Jaime J. Bautista expressed his gratitude to the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA) after its members confirmed his ad-interim appointment today, December 14, 2022, as Secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Secretary Bautista said he and the DOTr is keen on fulfilling the mandate of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to “Build Better More,” describing his confirmation as an “early Christmas gift” to his new personal mission—public service.
“I eagerly look forward to fulfilling the mandate given to me by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as Transportation Secretary after earning the affirmation of the Commission on Appointments,” said Sec. Bautista after the plenary session presided by CA Chairman and Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri.
“I am deeply humbled by this early Christmas gift – my first official government post – that validates my new personal mission: public service,” added Sec. Bautista.
Under scrutiny by members of the powerful CA, Secretary Bautista hurdled three deliberation hearings by members of the CA’s Committee on Transportation, chaired by Cavite 2nd District Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla, before getting the official CA nod at its plenary session.
According to Secretary Bautista, his confirmation as Transportation Secretary will be a confidence booster to complete multiple big-ticket infrastructure transport projects under the administration of President Marcos, while providing Filipinos with safe, affordable, comfortable, and accessible transportation and elevating the country’s transportation systems to global standards.
