Barbers on Romualdez’s high survey numbers: It makes us very proud

admin October 30, 2023

THE high trust and satisfaction ratings achieved by Speaker Martin Romualdez in the results OCTA survey will inspire the House of Representatives to work even harder toward completing the legislative agenda of the Marcos administration.

Thus, said Surigao del Norte 2nd District Representative Robert Ace Barbers, chairman of the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs, who reckoned Monday that the morale of the 300-plus strong legislative chamber would further be bolstered by Romualdez’s impressive ratings.

“These ratings show that Speaker Romualdez’s efforts throughout the past year and a half haven’t gone unnoticed and unappreciated. While I’m sure that the good Speaker won’t gloat about it, for us House members, we are happy to see his hard work recognized. This gives us all the more reason reason to work harder for the benefit of Filipinos,” Barbers said.

“It further affirms our view of Speaker Romualdez, who is a quiet but good general. Walang masyadong satsat, trabaho lang. Nakikita na ito ng tao. Filipinos know results when they see it. And their recognition of the Speaker makes us very proud,” added the veteran lawmaker from Midnanao.

The House of Representatives is currently in a five-week recess, but it has still been conducting briefings and hearings upon the order of Romualdez.

Last Sept. 27 or just before the recess, the House passed in expeditious manner the P5.768-trillion General Appropriations Bill (GAB) or proposed national budget for 2024. That same day, Romualdez announced that the chamber had also passed three months ahead of schedule all 20 measures from the Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) list.

Results of the latest OCTA survey conducted from Sept. 30 to Oct. 4 showed that Romualdez garnered a trust rating of 60 percent and a satisfaction rating of 61 percent.

Year-on-year (2022 vs. 2023), the trust figures showed a massive jump of 22 percentage points; while the satisfaction figures showed an equally impressive increase of 17 percentage points.
