THEY are back!
Sheila Guo, the sister of dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo, and Cassandra Li Ong are back in the Philippines after being intercepted in Indonesia.
Guo and Ong arrived past 5 p.m. and were taken under custody by Philippine authorities.
Guo and Ong were brought to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) where they underwent medical examination.
They were read their Miranda rights, said Department of Justice spokesperson Mico Clavano.
Clavano told reporters that Ong would face inquest for obstruction of justice and violation of the Passport Act, while Guo would be charged with violation of immigration laws.
They requested a lawyer, which was granted, he said.
“We assured them that we will respect their rights,” he added.
He said Guo felt a bit unwell upon arrival in the country, but the two later appeared to be fine after they were brought to the BI.
He also said legal custody of Guo and Ong has been transferred to the National Bureau of Investigation.
They would be brought to the Senate and the House if they are summoned to its hearings, as reported by abogado.com
Sheila has been ordered arrested by the Senate for not appearing in its hearing.
Ong, who has been linked to raided Philippine offshore gaming operator Lucky South 99, has been ordered arrested by the House of Representatives for a contempt citation.
The two reportedly joined Alice Guo after the latter slipped out of the country last month.
