REPRESENTATIVE Michael ‘Mikee’ Romero of One Patriotic Coalition of Marginalized Nationals (1-PACMAN) and chair of Committee on Poverty Alleviation said that the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Landbank have committed to give all the benefits of the 700,000 reinstated families into the 4Ps before Christmas.
Romero stressed this during an interview this morning on the radio program of former Philippine Vice President Kabayan Noli de Castro on Teleradyo Serbisyo, hosted earlier by journalist Robert Mano.
The 1-PACMAN Party-list Representative reiterated that the House Committee on Poverty Alleviation will be in constant touch with the DSWD to make sure the 4Ps funds are released urgently and has urged the Land Bank of the Philippines and the other 4Ps conduits to prioritize releasing the 4Ps funds.
“Landbank said it would take them only three (3) days to deposit the funds into the ATM accounts of the 4Ps beneficiaries,” Rep. Romero said during the Teleradyo Serbisyo interview.
Romero has said the delisted families have not yet crossed the line of indigent status and must remain in the 4Ps. This legislative oversight effort is a Christmas gift we intend to give our kababayans. We hope the DSWD makes it even more perfect by expediting distribution.
“While 3.2 million households have consistently received their cash grants, the more than 700,000 delisted families were denied the same benefits after being evaluated by the DSWD as “non-poor,” among other reasons,” Romero has said.
Romero also said for the 700,000 reinstated families to receive in the coming weeks their 4Ps benefits due them for the whole year of 2023, DSWD need only follow and expedite the same processes they have for the release of the funds through the 4Ps ATM cards and other means provided by law.
