SIX persons involved in the death of Adamson University chemical engineering student John Matthew Salilig arrived at the Department of Justice for inquest proceedings
A neophyte member of the Tau Gamma Phi identified the six persons involved in an initiation and welcome rites held in a house in Binan, Laguna.
Salilig died on their way to Manila. His body was found in a shallow grave in Imus, Cavite on Tuesday, more than a week after he was last seen alive. An autopsy report said the cause of Salilig’s death was ‘severe blunt force in the lower extremities.’
The suspects were escorted by police as they wore orange shirts and in handcuffs on the way to DOJ Prosecution Building.
Earlier, the Public Attorney’s Office said it will not take on the persons of interests as clients due to conflict of interest. PAO chief Persida Acosta, in a press conference, said the family of Salilig has already approached them for help.
“Hindi namin sila tutulungan, conflict of interest. Eh, nauna yung biktima eh,” Acosta said. “Oh, bakit natin papayagan na mag PAO vs. PAO. Conflict yan. Lumapit sila, humanap sila. Kaya kayo gagawa kayo ng krimen tapos gusto niyo PAO, pagtanggol kayo,” she added.
“Dapat kaso nila murder. Lalo yan ibinaon, inilbing, aba’y concealment of the corpus delicti. Sino matutuwa diyan?” Acosta said.
Award to Imus police
Acosta said she will award the police personnel in Imus.
Ang bibilis kumilos,” she said.
She said there is also no implementation of the Anti-Hazing Law and that it should be revisited.
May penalty diyan eh.
