THE Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) released a total of 340 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) on January 23.
The released PDLs consisted of the following: 128 paroled, one acquitted, and 211 liberated due to the expiration of their maximum sentence in accordance with the good conduct time allowance.
Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Boying Remulla led the distribution of the certificates of discharge to the released PDLs.
Also present during the event were Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) Chief Persida Rueda-Acosta, BuCor Acting Director General Gregorio Catapang, Jr. and other DOJ officials.
Remulla assured that the DOJ will continue this decongestion throughout the year with monthly releases as part of his priority projects.
