THREE cadets of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) were found guilty by the Baguio Court for the death of Darwin Dormitorio in September 2019, as stated by his family this Friday.
Dormitorio’s brother, Dexter, mentioned that Shalimar Imperial, Julius Tadena, and Felix Lumbag Jr. were found guilty beyond reasonable doubt of murder and hazing by the Baguio Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 5.
They were sentenced to reclusion perpetua or up to 40 years of imprisonment.
Dormitorio passed away at the PMA Hospital on September 18, 2019, a day after being diagnosed with urinary tract infection.
He was unconscious, unresponsive, and had no vital signs upon arrival at the hospital.
Dormitorio’s eyes were no longer moving. His lips and nails were turning blue. Dormitorio had bruises on his chest, stomach, sides, and back.
He received cardio-pulmonary resuscitation but was later declared dead.
The diagnosis was cardiopulmonary arrest likely secondary to blunt thoracoabdominal injury presumably due to physical abuse. In 2023, Tadena and Zacarias were sentenced by the Baguio Municipal Trial Court for committing “slight physical injuries.
