AROUND 20 million Filipinos from Generation Z are expected to vote in the 2025 national and local elections, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Those born between 1997 and 2012 fall into the Gen Z category.
“If we base it on the Barangay and SK (Sangguniang Kabataan) Elections, let’s say we include the 15 to 17-year-olds, the voters are almost 24 million. More or less, we are expecting around 20 million members of Gen Z youth,” said Comelec chairperson George Erwin Garcia last Saturday, October 5. Based on data, there are around 13 million or 195 of the total number of voters in Gen Z.
Garcia emphasized the importance of the youth’s vote. “Their votes will matter. That’s how important their vote is because they will dictate the future of our nation,” the official added.
